Minority Biospecimen/Biobanking Geographic Management Program for Region 3: BMaP-3

BMaP-3 seeks to offer a solid foundation for working toward the adequate and continuous supply of high-quality human biospecimens for cancer research that takes into account the cultural sensitivities of the diverse communities found within Region 3. Region 3 consists of seven US states (FL, GA, AL, MS, LA, AR, MO) and Puerto Rico. As part of the aims of BMaP-3 we are building and strengthening partnerships with Community Health Educators (CHEs), Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) trainees and NCI Community Cancer Center Programs (NCCCP) to enhance culturally, linguistically and literacy appropriate strategies for educating and raising awareness of communities about biobanks and biospecimen collection. Ultimately, we seek to meet the education/training needs of the CHEs in terms of biospecimen/biobanking.

The purpose of this site is to warehouse non-proprietary, non-confidential documents on biospecimens/biobanking that can be used by community health educators in Region 3 for creating or adapting educational materials on this topic for lay audiences. We invite users to download documents on this site and upload documents that can be shared which are relevant to the purpose of this site. Do not upload journal articles. If you would like to share information about a journal article relevant to biospecimens/biobanking education please email Diana.Lima@moffitt.org and an announcement will be sent via email to the Community Health Educators.
